How Many Watermelons Are In This Picture? 90% OF PEOPLE GET IT WRONG.

At first glance, this watermelon puzzle looks almost too easy. There are eight large circular pieces arranged around an empty space, so the natural reaction is to count each visible circle as one watermelon and confidently answer eight. But that ignores the most important detail in the picture.

Every visible piece shows the inside of a watermelon rather than an entire uncut fruit. That means the circles are watermelon halves, each created by cutting a whole watermelon into two pieces. The challenge isn’t asking how many pieces can be seen—it’s asking how many complete watermelons those pieces represent.

There are eight watermelon halves visible in total. Since two halves make one whole watermelon, the calculation is simple: 8 ÷ 2 = 4. The arrangement of the pieces makes them appear like eight individual fruits, which is what makes the puzzle deceptive.

The trick works because our eyes immediately recognize the familiar round shape and begin counting objects before considering what each object actually represents. Once you notice that every watermelon has been cut in half, the apparent difficulty disappears.

So the correct answer is 4 watermelons. The picture contains eight halves, and when those halves are paired together, they make four complete watermelons.
