American Troops Trapped Under Fire on U.S. Soil — Fort Stewart Shooter Detained

At Fort Stewart, a U.S. Army base in Georgia, a sergeant opened fire using his personal handgun, injuring five fellow soldiers.

The base was immediately locked down. Brave soldiers subdued the shooter, who was taken into custody about 40 minutes after the lockdown began.

Three of the injured soldiers have already been released from the hospital, and the others are expected to fully recover.

Six soldiers were awarded Meritorious Service Medals for their quick action in stopping the shooter and providing aid to their wounded comrades.

This was a serious active shooter incident on U.S. soil, and the suspect is now in custody. Reports highlight the immense bravery of those who acted under fire.
