Most People Don’t Notice Until It’s Too Late

Many people mistake small blisters or sores around the lips for a simple pimple or irritation, but doctors warn that they’re often caused by the herpes simplex virus. This virus can remain dormant in the body for years and reappear when the immune system is weak, after stress, illness, or even too much sun exposure.

While it’s not dangerous in most cases, it’s highly contagious. Sharing drinks, kissing, or close skin contact can easily spread it. The first signs are tingling, itching, or burning sensations around the mouth, followed by red bumps that turn into fluid-filled blisters.

Experts advise avoiding direct contact during an outbreak and maintaining good hygiene. Always use personal towels and lip products, and consult a doctor if symptoms persist or worsen.
